For me, and I believe most people, the holidays are all about getting together as a family and catching up. As an adult, this is usually centered around a good meal and maybe a drink or two.

It’s a bit different though for catching up with the kids in my family. I always like to try and plan a fun activity that I can do with them to get them involved in something other than a screen.

Pick up a few cheap rolling pins and give each kid a hunk of dough. Let them roll out the dough however they want and then cut out whatever shapes they choose. I don’t know a single kid who wouldn’t love the opportunity to make their own cookies.
Heck. I still like to do it as well!

The other nice thing about these cookies is they cook fast (about 8 minutes) so there isn’t a lot of waiting around.

When they come out of the oven, you can decorate them however you want! I tried to keep my version pretty clean with a simple white icing and sprinkles, but as you can imagine, kids will let their imaginations go wild!
