Zak Community Involvement

community involvement

From its humble beginnings as a small golf tournament, the Zak!Charity Open raised over $5.3 million for children in our community, and became one of the premiere charity events in the Inland Northwest. After 17 years, it was passed on to the Rypien Foundation in the summer of 2016 and is now known as the Rypien Foundation Hope Classic.
Rypien Foundation
Super Bowl XXVI MVP Mark Rypien founded the Mark Rypien Foundation after losing his three-year-old son, Andrew, to cancer. The Rypien Foundation was created with a commitment to provide hope, aid, and quality care for local families battling childhood cancer.

Zak employees also contribute to the community in smaller ways, giving what we can, when we can.

  • United Way: We’ve set up a workplace giving campaign to support United Way’s goal of creating lasting change in communities around the world.
  • Toys for Tots: Every year, we help the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation by collecting new toys to distribute as Christmas gifts to children in need.
  • Inland Northwest Blood Center: Organized through the Inland Northwest Blood Center, we host quarterly blood drives to help save lives.
  • Second Harvest: Canned food drives and fundraising cooking contests bring resources towards Second Harvest’s hunger-relief efforts.
