Fresh Peach Syrup Ice Cream Sundae Recipe

Ice cream topped with fresh peach syrup Make a delicious sweet treat using fresh fruit! For better or for worse, I don't have a huge sweet tooth. Super sweet treats just don't appeal to me and you're much more likely to see me snacking on a salty bite then a sugary thing. That changes though when you introduce ice cream to the situation. For some reason, it's my sweet weakness and I can eat my weight in the stuff!

Scoop of vanilla ice cream! >Keep your ice cream basic! Vanilla works great with this recipe! That said, I like to keep the ice cream basic (no crazy flavors for me, generally). I like good, vanilla ice cream most of all.

Sliced peaches for the peach syrup Beyond Peaches, you can make different fruit syrups. When I do add toppings, I try to mix it up between salty and sweet. This time of year, I love making quick fruit syrups with whatever is seasonal and fresh. Peaches are what caught my eye on this particular day.

Roughly chopped peaches in saucepan Roughly chop the fruit so there are still big pieces of it in the final topping. The key to making a good fruit syrup is to roughly chop the fruit so there are still big pieces of it in the final topping. Also, be careful with the added sugar. You need some to thicken the syrup, but you can easily over-do it. Remember that there is a ton of natural sugar in most ripe fruits.

Leftover peach syrup . Leftover peach syrup will keep in the fridge for 3-5 days. Simmer the fruit with a dash of water, sugar, salt, and cinnamon until the fruit just starts to break down and the liquid thickens. The last thing you want to do is cook the fruit into oblivion! When the syrup is a nice, thick consistency, let it cool slightly and then serve it warm (or chilled) over big scoops of ice cream.

Peach syrup and condiments in divided caddy Use the Zak Designs Condiment Caddy as a topping bar for your ice cream!I like to fill my Zak caddy with some of the syrup, roasted peanuts, crumbled chocolate cookies, and sprinkles and let people make their own sundaes!

Vanilla ice cream topped peach syrup! These accessories are perfect to throw a Ice Cream party! While peaches are great in this, you could substitute any number of fruits. Try plums, strawberries, or blueberries! If you have leftover syrup, it's also great in your morning oatmeal!
