A Desk-Dedicated Water Bottle for Kids

For Top Performance in School

There is one very important item that isn’t included in your child’s back to school supply list, so remember to provide them with a water bottle dedicated to the desktop. Depending on age, size, level of activity, and gender, kids need between four and six glasses of water a day, but they don’t always know when they’re thirsty. Thirst is slow to develop and can be confused with hunger—sometimes when children feel hungry, all they really need is water. When they do start to feel thirsty, they’re already a little dehydrated. It can be hard for kids to concentrate on schoolwork under these conditions, so it’s a good idea to have water nearby and available to sip during class. Plus, it’ll help them stay healthy, refreshed, and alert. A colorful and fun water bottle, maybe one with their favorite character on it, can encourage them to sip more often

Another reason to give kids easy access to water is to prevent any interruptions to class time. They might be hesitant to ask the teacher for a drink after the bell rings, especially if the class recently took a trip to the drinking fountain. As a retired teacher, I can’t count the number of times a student would ask to get a drink and I would hear myself say, “But we just got drinks.” When the weather is warm, however, and your child is very active during recess, they may come inside dehydrated, sweating and red in the face. Even if your child is taking advantage of the proper breaks to visit the water fountain, a quick drink on the way back to the classroom is not enough to replace the fluids they have lost.
It could be argued that bringing water bottles would cause even more disruptions. For example, students might knock their water bottles to the floor and send them rolling across the room. This can easily be remedied by providing your child with a small disc of rubberized shelf liner to put under the bottle, so it doesn’t slide so easily. Another problem is the terrible sound of kids scrunching their thin plastic water bottles to get the last few drops, and of course, there’s the possibility of a leak getting your child’s work wet and soggy. You can get around both of these with Zak water bottles, since they’re made of durable plastic and seal tightly.
Aside from fun artwork and lids that won’t leak, Zak bottles are reusable, which benefits the environment. You don’t need to purchase disposable plastic bottles just for them to end up in the landfill. Instead, kids are instilled with a responsibility to reuse instead of throw away. They’ll also learn how to bring their water bottles home to be cleaned and filled with fresh water—although it might be a good idea to keep a spare, in case they forget. You don’t want your child drinking day-old water, after all.
Kids play and work hard all day at school. Because hydration is essential to a child’s health and well-being, a desk-dedicated water bottle is an excellent way to help your child perform their best both physically and academically. With everything from water bottles with straws to stainless steel water bottles, and fun artwork to capture the imagination, Zak Design’s water bottles for kids are perfect for the job.
